Don Battye

After leaving Crawfords in 1977, Don went to Sydney where he was engaged by the Grundy Organization to oversee the drama series "Chopper Squad". Don stayed at Grundys for a number of years and worked as both a producer and writer on a variety of series and serials. Don collaborated with Peter Pinne in the writing of the theme music for the very successful "Sons and Daughters".

Don is now retired and since 1998 has been living in the Philippines and as a labour of love he is orchestrating a series of old Australian, West End and American musicals which have never been recorded. Peter Pinne searches out and finds old manuscripts for Don's passion and love of the genre, which Don then brings back to "life". So far Don has breathed that life back into three old shows from the 1930's and 50's where they end up in the National Library and at the Arts Centre in Melbourne.

Don is also working his way through a series of Broadway musicals and has completed eight in the series which Don predicts may end up numbering 35 CDs.

Don sadly passed away on the 28th of February 2016
